Course Expectations:
Course Participants must come to the start of the first day of their scheduled class with all required precourse materials including but not limited to prerequisite certifications, completed online assessments, age verification, course materials, manuals, and required materials as noted in the Red Cross Welcome Letter.
Participants must acquire all listed required manuals and materials as stated in the Red Cross Welcome Letter. Basic Life Support, First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, and participant manuals for any and all Red Cross Courses may be hardcopy or digital. If Digital, the device must be a laptop, tablet, or e-reader. Cellar devices may not be used to view participant materials or manuals throughout the course.
Printed Material:
The Lifeguarding Instructor Manual must be hardcopy. This manual may be purchased or self-printed and brought to the first day of your scheduled Instructor Course. If you purchase an official Instructor Manuel via registration, you will receive your hardcopy during the first scheduled day of class. However, all precourse assessments must be completed with the online or PDF version of the instructor's Manual.
Online Assessments (Non-Instructor Level):
The email address that was utilized for registration connected to the cardholder will receive the online assessment in their receipt. This assessment must be forwarded to the course participant, and it is the cardholder's responsibility to ensure the assessment reaches the course participant and is completed before the start of their first day of their scheduled course.
Digital copies of the participants Manual may be used; however, it is not a requirement for each course. Each course participant will be sent a digital participant's manual to be used for the online assessment, course dates, and beyond.
Online Assessment (instructor level):
Upon registration, the candidate will receive the online assessment within two weeks of the course start date via the email address provided in the student information section of course registration.
Practice Teaching Assignments (Instructor Course):
All practice teaching assignments required for the course will be provided with the Red Cross Welcome Letter. It is the responsibility of the participant to review these assignments as they will be randomly assigned on the first day of the course. Participants are required to read and prepare all required materials for their assigned.
Any course participant that suffers an injury prior to the start date of the course, must have a doctor's note stating their eligibility to participate in a physical, hands-on aquatic class.
Any participant who fails to provide a doctor's note will be immediately removed from the course with no refund. If a participant is injured during the course, please refer to the Cold-Harm Form.
Course Refund:
A Participant will not receive a refund 7 business days before the precourse assessment/start of class. Each participant will be offered one attempts to successfully complete each section of the precourse. If the participant is unsuccessful they may not continue with the course as per the Red Cross. A refund will not be provided for unsuccessful precourse attempts, no show and or no online assessment. The proficient/non-proficient skill-assessment chart (Lifeguarding courses only) is included within the welcome email.
Inclement Weather / Acts of God:
In the event a course must be postponed or rescheduled by hours or a separate day a make-up session may be scheduled. Please refer to the registration receipt for possible makeup times and dates. Refunds will not be provided for participants who are unable to attend to make-up sessions as listed in the registration receipt.
